conditions retain the
subtle tones that you see when you press the shutter. Also with the newly
added Natural Light mode, you can capture every nuance of the scene
naturally and without flash, even in dim light.
Fast Start-up
FinePix Z1 is ready when you are. Just slide open the protective front
panel, and in approximately 0.6 second, it is waiting for you to press the
shutter. In addition, Z1 has a shortened shooting interval of 1.1 seconds
and fast shutter release with a time lag of a minimal 0.01 seconds.
The Fujifilm FinePix Z1's large 2.5-inch display is larger than the
displays on most cameras in its class.
2.5-inch LCD Monitor
Special reinforced glass used for the extra-large 2.5-inch LCD enhances
shock resistance, allowing you to take the Z1 everywhere with confidence.
The LCD's Auto Gain function automatically adjusts brightness for optimal
viewing anytime, whether you're inside or outdoors. Plus a host of new
shooting functions, including the Post Shot Assist Window that lets you
take the next photo while seeing the playback of previous shots, are
supported by a totally new Shooting/Playback interface for more intuitive
operation.
The FinePix Z1 has an innovative refractive 3x optical lens that uses a
prism to admit light and bend it 90 degrees.
3x Optical Zoom
Specially designed to preserve the flat body concept, the innovative
refractive 3x optical lens uses a prism to admit light and bend it 90
degrees into an internal configuration of 10 lens elements in 8 groups.
Unlike a conventional zoom lens that extends from the body, all zoom
element movement occurs internally.
FinePix Real Photo Technology
Real Photo technology is the synergy of three key devices: The Fujinon
lens, the fifth-generation Super CCD HR, and the newly developed RP (Real
Photo) processor. Playing a major role in realizing the Z1's huge leap in
quality and performance, the RP processor performs double noise-reduction
processing to achieve high sensitivity with minimized noise. In addition,
a new built-in antiblur program takes advantage of high sensitivity and
faster shutter speed to automatically suppress blurring from camera shake
or movement by the subject under dim light conditions.
Shooting Modes for Creative Control
High-speed Shooting mode assisted by accelerated autofocus (AF) in
approximately half the time of normal AF mode
Macro mode for photos as close as approximately 8 centimeters
Red-eye Reduction + Slow Synchro mode
Scene Position (Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Night Scene, plus the new
Natural Light mode)
Other Features
Z1 PictureCradle included
DPOF (Digital Print Order Format) compatibility for instant ordering of
prints
PictBridge compatible

Great camera for those on
the go, January 29, 2006
Reviewer: B. Puga "bapuga"
Wow. This is my second Fujifilm camera, and could not be happier with it.
I had three reasons for upgrading and this camera met them all.
#1- Speed: Besides processing pictures MUCH faster than my previous
camera, the Z1 starts up AMAZINGLY FAST. This means less photo ops are
missed waiting for the lens to come out of the case and the camera to come
on.
#2- Size: I'm the kind of person that likes to bring a camera along
everywhere. I'll take tons of pics, delete the lame ones, and keep the
jewels. This camera is slim and about the size of a deck of cards.
#3- Quality: With any digital camera upgrade, you expect quality
improvements. The real-light (or whatever they call it) feature makes for
much better color. And a 3 mega-pixel jump was nice, too.
On a side note, the proprietary battery that is included with this camera
is amazing. I used to carry extra batteries with me at all times. The Z1
lasted an entire week on vacation (over 200 pics) and the battery
indicator never changed.
Some gripes: You have to use the included dock if you want to transfer
pics to your pc or use a tripod. The LCD screen is HUGE, and very exposed.
This means you have to be careful not to scratch it, a problem for those
(like me) who take their camera with them. There is no Webcam mode on the
Z1, unlike my previous Fujifilm camera.
OVERALL, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CAMERA. (I could never find this model on
display in a brick&mortar store, and bought on faith from Amazon. You may
have to, as well.)
