Decent wide angle, May 21, 2005
Reviewer: Pierre Saslawsky
I disagree with the previous review. I bought, tried and shipped back two
other wide-angle lenses for a Sony P150, both with smaller ratio (0.6x and
0.45x). The problem was that they distorted the image way too much, and
had unacceptable vignetting and chromatic aberrations. The Sony 0.7x lens
might not be as wide as we would wish sometimes (is there a lens in the
world that's wide enough to capture it all anyhow?!) but at least it gives
decent results.

Nice lens, but requires a slave flash, September 10, 2005
Reviewer: L. Cotugno
The lens takes nice wide angle pictures. However, it requires an adaptor
on my DSC-W5 Sony Camera in order to fit. This puts the wide angle lens
sufficiently away from the original lens that you see a shadow on the
picture when using the build in flash. It appears that the build in flash
is blocked a bit by the set up. The slave flash corrects this, but even at
low setting it's sometimes too bright for the picture.

GOOD ADDITION TO CAMERA BUT WITH "TRADEOFF", October 21, 2005
Reviewer: Amorvivo S. Campos
I USE THIS LENS FOR MY DSC W-7. THIS LENS ENABLES YOUR CAMERA TO CAPTURE A
WIDER VIEW. FROM A DISTANCE OF ABOUT 8 FEET AWAY FROM MY COVERAGE AREA, I
HAVE NOTICED THAT IT ADDED ABOUT 2.5 FEET MORE ON EACH SIDE OF THE AREA. I
FIND THIS COOL BECAUSE I DONT HAVE TO ASK SOMEONE TO SQUEEZE IN-FRONT JUST
TO BE INCLUDED.
GOOD POINT:
USE IT AT DAY TIME OR ON A WELL LIT PLACE, NO PROBLEM. IT WILL PRODUCE THE
SAME GOOD QUALITY IMAGE EVEN AT THE LOWEST RESOLUTION
BAD POINT:
WHEN YOU NEED TO USE THE CAMERA FLASH: IF YOU ATTACH THE ADAPTER & LENS TO
THE CAMERA BODY, THE ATTACHMENT EXTENDS TO A LITTLE OVER 2 INCHES. THE
BUILT-IN FLASH IS JUST ABOVE THE EXTENDED ATTACHMENT SO EVERYTIME YOU USE
THE FLASH, THE GLOW THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE SPREAD OVER THE SUBJECT SCENE
DOES NOT GET THAT LIGHT BECAUSE THE ATTACHMENT BLOCKS IT. PHOTOS TAKEN
SHOW AN OBVIOUS DARKENING (SHADOW) AT THE BOTTOM. I SEE THIS AS A
STRUCTURAL DEFICIENCY WHICH "SONY" CORP SHOULD ADDRESS IN FUTURE MODELS.
PERHAPS IF A "SEPARATE" FLASH CAN BE ATTACHED TO THE CAMERA THEN THIS
PROBLEM WILL BE NEGATED.
THIS BEING THE CASE, THE OTHER TWO LENS ATTACHMENTS AVAILABLE TO THE WSC
W- SERIES WILL PRODUCE THIS SAME DEFICIENCY.

Sony wide angle lens, August 13, 2005
Reviewer: R. Patel "RP"
The wide angle lens is good for outdoor pictures when you do not need to
use the in-built flash. I used it with my DSC-W7 camera. It helped a lot
to get wider pictures.
The lens is not good for indoor pictures as it obstructs the flash light

Pricey, but good, July 24, 2005
Reviewer: M. Fridman "mfridman"
I purchased one of these for my Sony DSC-W5. It is a well made, weighty
piece, which matches the finish fo the VAD-WA adapter well. My wide angle
photos came out pretty well, with good detail and a tolerably small amount
of barrel distortion.

Lost money, January 31, 2005
Reviewer: Disapointed "VHA"
I bought this item on november 2004 to use with my excellent new DSC P100.
My expectation was take good shots wtih wide angle, I don't have previus
experience with how much mean 0.7X in terms of reduction of scenary angle.
With the first photos, I really felt disapointing because the "wide angle"
is not enough, actually the difference between the scenary angle with the
lens and without it, is pretty low.
Now I'm searching for lens with bigger reduction, maybe 0.45X
