Great little camera, February 22, 2006
Reviewer: Danny L. Drum
I find this a great little camera for the money. For my needs, it is just
right. I find it takes clear pics, very small, so easy to carry. I have no
problems with it at all. I can carry it in the case on my belt or in a
pocket. I recommend it highly.

Great little camera!, February 22, 2006

I purchased this camera for my 5 year old grandson. It's small enough to
handle and large enough to hold steady during an exposer. The general
operation of this camera is very simple and easy to use. The image doesn't
stay in the window very long after the exposure is made, but it's easy to
preview later.

Nice camera with a flash problem, January 23, 2006
Reviewer: R. D. Rockwell "George's dad"
This camera is really nice, *except* that it always produces the
red-eye-avoidance double flash, even when it's not supposed to.
Vivitar support claims that this isn't a problem since they all have it.
If anyone out there has one that doesn't do this, please let me know, all
ten we tried at the store did it.

Not too bad, but not spectacular, January 22, 2006
Reviewer: F. Gao "Althena001"
This was my first camera, and I got a cheap one cuz I was going off to
college and would like to send pictures home. I like that the camera is
compact, and it does take pretty good pictures, but the double flash
confuses people and so the picture might come out a bit blurry. And if
it's not held perfectly still, the picture could come out pretty blurry,
too.
When the light isn't perfect or very bright, the screen is pitch black and
I usually have to eyeball and aim for where the subject of my picture was.
It's a good camera on a budget, but 3.0MP isn't that great quality in
general. The pictures usually turn out better/more normal when they're
uploaded.
Overall... it's got some pros and cons for sure, but... use your better
judgment. =) I don't recommend NOT getting it, but I'm not raving about
it.

A great first digital camera!, January 4, 2006
Reviewer: Andrew J. Riemer "Andrew James Riemer"
This is the second Vivitar ViviCam I have purchased. This one was a gift
for my eldest daughter. Like the other ViviCam I own, I find this one to
be extremely well-made and it takes fantastic photos that print well at
8"x10". It keeps time and date settings between battery changes, which is
a great improvement over the earlier model I purchased. Like others have
noted, an SD Card for photo storage is definately a must.
SOLUTION TO SHORT BATTERY LIFE
------------------------------
A number of digital camera reviews reference short battery life. I found a
rechargeable solution that fits hand-in-glove with this camera. Rayovac
markets a 15-minute rechargeable system (the Rayovac I-C3 system) that
charges the batteries in 15 minutes (really!) and they are the only
batteries we use in our cameras. Depending on the flash settings, I can
get anywhere from a few hours to a full day of use. The most photos I took
on a single charge (without the flash) was 279 (my other ViviCam using an
SD card for storage)! I keep two sets, but because they charge so fast, I
can throw them in the charger before a party and need not worry about
missing those picture-perfect moments!
THIS CAMERA'S ONLY FLAW
------------------------
My only real concern with this camera is that there is the lens
protection. The lens is housed below a plastic window that has no other
cover. In contrast, my other ViviCam has a retractable cover that slides
over the lens. Without proper care, it looks like it will be easy to
scratch this one, which could render the camera useless. To prevent any
damage, I have my daughter wrapping the front of the camera with a lens
cloth before she puts the camera in her case.
